# SessionDock Pro (DMG) Migration Guide

Moving from the Mac App Store Version to the Unsandboxed Pro Build

The Pro (DMG) version of SessionDock is an unsandboxed build designed for advanced workflows, especially when working with NAS/SMB storage, shared studio drives, or complex project structures. This version bypasses macOS App Sandbox restrictions and receives updates directly, outside of the Mac App Store.

Your Mac App Store data remains untouched during this process, so you can switch back at any time.

## Step 1 - Create a Backup of Your Library

1. Open SessionDock (Mac App Store version).
2. Go to Settings > Backups & Restore.
3. Click Create backup.
4. Click Open backups folder and move the backup file to your Desktop (or another safe location).

This backup contains all your sessions, metadata, tags, filters, clients, and settings.

## Step 2 - Install the Pro (DMG) Version

1. Download and open the Pro DMG version of SessionDock.
2. Drag SessionDock into your Applications folder, replacing the existing version.
3. Launch the app.

## Step 3 - Enter Your Pro Serial

During onboarding, enter your Pro serial number to activate the unsandboxed build.

## Step 4 - Restore Your Library

1. Once inside the app, go to Settings > Backups & Restore.
2. Click Restore backup…
3. Select the backup file you moved to your Desktop.
4. Restart the app when prompted.

Your entire library will be restored to the Pro version.

## That's it - You're Now Running the Pro Build

- The Pro build offers full filesystem access.
- No more macOS sandbox restrictions.
- NAS/SMB and external-drive workflows work as expected.
- Updates are delivered directly through SessionDock instead of the Mac App Store.

Your Mac App Store session data remains untouched if you ever want to switch back.
